CFMOTO’s lineup isn’t just growing in numbers; it’s also growing in size.
The Chinese OEM already sent its 450 cc, 675 cc, and 800 cc models stateside in years past, but something bigger debuts in 2027. Enter the Ibex 950. It’s not only the firm’s biggest ADV offering. It’s the biggest entry in the brand’s entire U.S. range.
The grande-sized Ibex may be a new addition to the CFMOTO ranks, but it's far from a clean-sheet design. That’s because it has a lot in common with its not-so-distant relative: KTM’s 890 Adventure R.
Compare and contrast
Both the Ibex 950 and 890 Adventure share the same core components. That includes a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, a tubular steel frame, and a low-mounted fuel tank. But CFMOTO made subtle adjustments to each of those building blocks.
For instance, KTM claims the 890’s 889 cc engine produces 103.5 horsepower (at 8,000 rpm) and 74 foot-pounds of torque (at 6,500 rpm). The Ibex, however, utilizes a bored-out and stroked-out version of the LC8c twin (90.7 mm x 68.8 mm versus 92.5 mm x 70.4 mm), which nudges the displacement up to 946 cc. That extra volume equates to extra performance, with the 950 belting out a reported 112 horsepower (at 8,500 rpm) and 77.5 foot-pounds (at 6,250 rpm).

The trend continues with the chassis. The KTM sports WP XPLOR suspension that yields 9.45 inches of travel both fore and aft. The CFMOTO opts for a 48 mm KYB fork and KYB shock, even if they provide slightly less travel, at 9.1 inches all around. The 890 Adventure has a 34.6-inch seat height. The Ibex 950 sits at 34.3 inches. The 890 touts a 5.3-gallon fuel capacity. The 950 carries 5.9 gallons. KTM lists the former at 474 pounds. CFMOTO lists the latter at 489 pounds. I think you get the point by now.

Still, the one-upmanship extends to the tech side. Whereas KTM mounts a five-inch TFT on the 890 Adventure R, the Ibex 950 wears a vertically oriented eight-inch display. Both bikes feature ride modes and IMU-based rider aids, but the Ibex comes standard with cruise control, heated grips, a heated seat, and a bi-directional quickshifter. It’s not just for the first 930 miles in Demo Mode, either. It’s for good.

Not only does the Ibex 950 come stocked with more goodies than its KTM counterpart, but it also costs $3,800 less. At $12,499, CFMOTO’s latest adventurer even undercuts some of the smaller offerings in the middleweight ADV class.
CFMOTO’s range is growing both in numbers and in size, but if the Ibex 950 delivers, the same might happen with its customer base.
